Friday's Filings in the Bankruptcy - Forms, forms, forms |

Here are yesterday's filings in the bankruptcy. I don't see anything really exciting, just mostly orders that we already read as proposed orders and lists of who got notices. It reminds me why I didn't want to be a bankruptcy paralegal. On the other hand, it will give you a feel for what being a lawyer or paralegal is like. It isn't on a daily basis exciting high-level strategy or court theatrics. A lot of it is exactly like this list -- filing what is essentially a form, over and over, just changing the title of the thing and maybe a date or something minor in the body of the text. You do have to have the ability to tolerate tedium and repetition leading to it and more so if you are a paralegal, because of course lawyers make them do all the boring tasks. Now, personally, I like a bit of tedium in my life, and there's a calmness from doing something that you don't much have to think about, so I never minded that element. But bankruptcy filings are, to me, too much of a good thing. I think you'll see what I mean as you go down the list. It's also possible you'll see something I've missed. And that is the real reason this field didn't appeal to me -- my brain reaches a certain level of boredom and it tunes out that channel and I either fall asleep or think about something more interesting, and I knew I'd make mistakes if I tried to function in a bankruptcy context. In fact, if you notice that I've made any mistakes -- like a document doesn't match the description, please let me know. I confess that I literally fell asleep in the middle of doing this, and while I checked when I woke up, I may have dropped a stitch because of not doing it all when it was fresh in my mind. As always, I provide the documents as a service, because I know you find it interesting to follow the case and we want a complete historical record, but for anything that matters legally, always go by the official documents you get yourself from the docket at the courthouse.

..while the W88 might fit main guns a wee bit better than WWII Tallboys, it only
took 4 of the latter to sink Tirpitz, the first hit also stirred the Kåfjord
waters thru steel while the remainder 3 and the misses shook the City of Tromsø
across the strait, a fair bit. ;o)[ Reply to This | # ]

With Novell's two broadsides, they have shown that as usual, they've
calculated their trajectories perfectly. Very commendable.
They've drafted
proposed orders so the Honorable Kevin Gross just needs to sign the dotted line
to have done with it. Their proposed orders even imitate the style of previous
Court orders -- but not quite:
Court Order:
IN THE UNITED
STATES BANKRUPTCY COURT
FOR THE DISTRICT OF
DELAWARE
Proposed Order:
UNITED STATES BANKRUPTCY
COURT
FOR THE DISTRICT OF DELAWARE
Court Order
sign-off:
The Honorable Kevin Gross
United States Bankruptcy
Judge
Proposed Order sign-off:
KEVIN GROSS
UNITED
STATES BANKRUPTCY JUDGE
To some, these little things matter. I
don't think Novell's groundwork can be faulted, but perhaps Young, Conaway,
Stargatt & Taylor need a PJ-calibre paralegal to match their legal
cannons.
